How does DocuGuide actually answer from my documents?
When a visitor asks a question, DocuGuide AI finds the most relevant passages in your documents and crafts an answer grounded in that content. The bot will not make up information. If the answer is not in your documents, it says so. Every answer includes the source document name and page number so visitors can verify it.
What file types do you support?
PDF (including scanned PDFs with embedded text), DOCX (Word), and plain text files. For PDFs we also extract figures, tables, and images so the bot can display them directly in answers, not just describe them.
Will the bot make things up or go off-topic?
No. The system prompt instructs the AI to only answer from the retrieved document passages. If a question isn't covered by your documents, the bot politely responds that it can only answer questions about the uploaded material, and suggests rephrasing. You also get a feedback system (thumbs up/down) to surface any accuracy issues.
What languages are supported?
The widget auto-detects the visitor's browser language and responds in it. We currently support English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Urdu, and Hebrew. Right-to-left layouts for Arabic, Urdu, and Hebrew are fully supported, and every response has text-to-speech playback.
Where can I embed the widget?
Any website: WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, or custom HTML. You get two embed options: an inline iframe that lives in a specific spot on your page, or a floating chat bubble in the corner of the screen. Both work with one line of code.
Paste the code snippet just before the closing </body> tag in your site's HTML. Common places to find it on popular platforms:
- WordPress: Appearance → Theme File Editor → footer.php, or use a "Header & Footer" plugin.
- Shopify: Online Store → Themes → Edit Code → theme.liquid.
- Wix or Squarespace: Settings → Advanced → Custom Code → Footer.
- Webflow: Project Settings → Custom Code → Footer.
Most website admins can install this in under five minutes. If you do not manage your own site, your hosting provider's support team can usually paste it for you on request.
What counts as a question?
Each message a visitor sends to the bot counts as one question toward your monthly limit. Opening the widget, browsing chat history, or the bot's welcome message do not count. Follow-up questions in the same conversation each count individually.
Can I use this for my own personal documents instead of a business?
Yes. You can upload manuals, contracts, study materials, receipts, or any other documents you want to organize and query. Personal use doesn't require embedding the widget anywhere. Just chat with your documents directly from your dashboard. Same plans, same features, same per-page citations.
If I am not tied to a business, can I use DocuGuide AI without embedding the widget?
Yes. The embed feature is for businesses that want to offer the chatbot to their visitors. If you are an independent professional, researcher, student, consultant, or anyone managing your own documents privately, you can use the chatbot directly from your dashboard. Both modes work the same way and are included in every plan. The onboarding checklist lets you skip the embed step if it does not apply to you.
Can I cancel anytime? What's the refund policy?
Yes. Cancel anytime from your dashboard with no long-term contracts or early-termination fees. Your subscription stays active through the end of your current billing period. For monthly plans that means the end of your current month. For annual plans that means the end of your prepaid year. We do not pro-rate refunds for partial periods. We offer a full refund within 7 days of your first paid invoice if you are not satisfied. The 14-day free trial requires no credit card, so you can try everything risk-free before subscribing.
Are my documents private?
Your documents are yours. We store them encrypted on isolated cloud storage that only your account and your widget visitors can access. We never train any AI model on your content. Connections are TLS-encrypted in transit. No other customer can access your documents. You can delete any document at any time, and deletion is immediate. After deletion, the content and every internal index of it are purged from our systems.
